I fell in love with Nova Scotia the minute the plane landed. I had always wanted to visit the land where my Grand Parents arrived when they came to Canada. The history, the people, the food and the music made me feel as if I had come home.

Lobster my goodness -- the smooth silky texture, the faint sea taste, the general heartiness of it -- lobster is amazing! And hold on: you get to dip it in garlic butter? Lobster, where have you been my entire life?!

The Pictou Lobster Carnival is an event that we look forward to every year. It is a sign that summer is here at last and every minute should be enjoyed and celebrated. To walk around this lovely seaside Town of Pictou enjoying the music, meeting the people, savouring the food and attending the special Carnival events is our way of saying Thank You to the Lobster Fishermen for the heritage of fishing and for the benefits we receive from the fishing industry.

We participated in the car show at the Pictou Lobster Carnival a few years ago, showing off the 1968 Cadillac Coupe deVille we drove there from northern Ontario! What a blast - and absolutely the loveliest, friendliest people you'd ever hope to meet, too!

This is not only a celebration of the lobster season on the beautiful Northumberland Strait, it is also a homecoming week for all those homesick Pictouians who wished they'd never moved away. Renaissance Pictou welcomes you home and invites you to stay!

I grew up in Pictou and enjoyed the festival every year. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to enjoy one in about 20 years! I remember the Fast Ball baseball tournament, Archies Angels and the Heatherbells! Oh, I miss the fun!!

I live right in the middle of the Lobster Carnival location. Lots of people, hard to get my car in and out all weekend, late nights, people going through my yard to get to the carnival, loud music, kids that are up too late and a dog that doesn't like all the action but I love Lobster Carnival and wouldn't have it any other way!! Bring on the weekend, I'm resting up for it now!!
