This year marks the 17th annual Kensington Sun and Salsa Festival, a free family friendly charity fundraising street festival. This one day event typically attracts about 90,000 festival goers. Old Dutch Potato Chips donates 20,000 bags of salsa chips while our business owners make over 500 gallons of salsa. The salsa tasting competition has raised over $170,000 for local charities in the past five years through chip and waters sales (salsa is free). Three salsa trophies (Best Salsa, Most Creative Recipe, Best Presentation) are awarded to Kensington businesses based on votes cast by festival goers. Six live entertainment stages (three music, one dance, one fashion/pageant, one children's), a Children's Carnival, the salsa competition, a Strongman Competition (pulling big vehicles and flipping giant tires), over 175 vendors, all our wonderful Kensington businesses featuring sales and extended patios.

The festival in the city which really signafies what Calgary is all about. The organization that runs it does an amazing job.

Love that the festival donates profits to charity, makes it different from other festivals that the city has. Plus it kinda helps that it's a ton of fun!

Great festival, with so many activites for young and old. Best Festival in Calgary!
